Monster At The Office
An office boss comes face-to-face with the impossible
Act I
All of the talk in the world, and the only bit that was to him was talk of trouble and problems. Hubbub as usual, and none of it good. It grew. And grew. Even more than it typically did. He stood up; if nothing else, he could at least blow off some steam by ripping into his unruly employees.
His assistant stormed into the room, grabbing his hand and racing him past a stumbling old man. A woman’s banshee cry pierced the office air. Suddenly, some pale teen with red eyes stood up and pointed out toward the water. He went and looked. A young woman in a red dress burst out of a window four whole floors down and plummeted into the city. A great and grotesque head lifted out of the river across the skyline. A world order shattered in a millisecond.
Act II
The tempting red exit sign flashed inside his mind, but this was not its time. This was the time to make his name. He felt his lungs reverberate as he yelled for them to pack their things and leave. Some didn’t listen well enough. He wasted no time in shoving them right out. None of them gave him thanks. Even his assistant darted out without saying a word to he who’d given her so much. The room quieted down and emptied out in one dramatic blink.
His mission was complete; his success secured and fame attained. The droning of computers made for lonely company in the quickly dimming office space. Clouds…
